Digitalization of eurostar kat
.jpg)
I have recentrly bought an eurostar made by Kato, it is nice ad detailed but has no presisposition for any decoder and considering my will tu use it on very long digital circuits during train exposition i decided to open the modeland and fix the problem :-)
Here the internal parts once i took out the body:

since the 1st look it is preaty clear that there is no space for a standard N decoder, the only valid alternative that i found is to use a LokPilor nano standard that has a dimention of only 8mmx7mmx2,8mm; it must be placed in the rear of the lococomotive between the light system and the plastic support for the coppers connectors.
1 st thing to do is isolate the direct connection between electric motor and the light circuit from the track; after seen a youtobe video that cut the copper strips i decided to find a less invasive solution so i chose to isolate the parts with a simple paper tape; here the final result:

The second problem is to adapt the analog light circuit for the digital system. After looking carefully to the light electric board i found a simple solution to the problem: desolder and than resolder the white led in reverse position and than cut the connection between the two negative poles of the white and red leds.

Once that the light circuit is ready i just solded the decoders wires and i placed it in the smal space identified before

Same thing must be done for the tail part where the light circuit is the same but has more space due to the lack of the electric motor

The final Result can be seen in the video below:
