I was courious about some of stratics DelPrado Locomotives so i bought an Iialian E424 and a spanish Talgo 352 Virgen Del Rosario. Today i'll talk about the italian E424: i tought to use a tomytec motorized chasis even though unfortunatly, weels axes are not at the right distance. Besides this problem the installation of it is quite easy, in facts it fits quite well in the DelPrado loco's body.

The only missing thing is a support to fix the motorized chassis to the loco's body itself; after few misuraments i came out with the first support prototipe

It is smal, handy and Practical (it seems an electrodomestic ad :-D), is made by three parts: a structure that allow it to hook to the motorized chassis, an horizontal, 4 cm width plan that help it to stay in a correct horizontal position and at last a 2mm thick parallelepiped that fit perfecty inside the top of the Loco's body. Only after i made it i realize that is a little bit to much ligher, for this reason i decide to look for another similar but better solution:

This solution allow insertion of sinkers, in the two sides parts, during printing Phase; With fishing sinkers the strucure can reach the wheight of 30g more or less. Not much but still better then nothing :-)

Two smal magnets inside the parallepepied on top of the structure allow the structure to be fixed to the body.

Once ended the creation of the adaper, it is only needed to create space for the coupling device, mask the weels that has the two axes too near and change the plastic pantographs. The weels are been covered by the existing DelPrado weel structure fixed inside by black tape (this solution is almost invisible and allow a grate lateral weels moviment of the bogies till 190 turn radius). About the pantographs i changed them with two kato's one. At last i made a hole in the front part of the loco to allow coulper to pass and be free to turn.
